Y2 Wise Owls

Welcome to Year 2! We are the Wise Owls of the school: knowledgeable about all sorts of things! Our class mascot, Wise Owl has very good eyes and ears, which we expect our children to also have to help them with their learning!

In Year 2 we like to reward the children for lots of things, especially for having a good attitude towards their learning and for always trying their best. Each week, we choose 2 children to be our Owlet helpers and help with jobs around the classroom. In return, they will be rewarded with a gift from our 'Rewards' box. We will also choose someone to be ‘Star of the Week’, who will be rewarded with a certificate and a trophy. 

We always give out new spellings and homework on a Friday so make sure you bring your book bag with spelling homework book to school. Our reading target is to read at home three times weekly, please make sure that this is written in your child's reading record. We reward children who have met their reading target and have completely weekly homework with prizes at the end of each half term. To help our Owlets further extend their learning, optional holiday homework will be issued to prepare children for their next topic: this will always be fun and exciting!

Our PE days are Fridays and alternate Wednesdays. Please ensure that children have their PE kits in school. Our library morning will be on Wednesdays so please make sure your child has their library book with them to swap for new one to encourage a love for reading for pleasure.
